What started out as a fun project turned into a desire to promote the area.
Coming from Canada to give their families a cultural experience was a bold decision and not an easy one but soon became a fantastic experience that was never regretted. First Randal in 2007 and then Troy in 2009, they turned a fun project into helping others learn about the area.
“Honestly, we had no idea what we were doing at first”
With very little information about the area all in one spot, Best of Bucerias website was born.
So, their children joined the local Spanish schools, they grabbed their computers and got to work to promote it. While the young ones quickly picked up the language, a lot of sign language for the rest of us and mispronounced Spanish words and sentences became the norm! How grateful we were of the locals for their patience as we tried to learn. As families, we always felt very safe here and often get frustrated at the negative news that surrounds Mexico. It was worth the effort to come to Bucerias – It has been fun being part of the culture, playing on the beaches, eating all the varieties of tacos (oh the tacos!)…
