Joint replacement is effective in relieving joint pain.
- Knee joint replacement: It is done when there is damage to the layer or sliding surface called articular cartilage. When this damage exists, day-to-day activities such as walking are difficult.
- Shoulder joint replacement: It is required when severe pain can be caused by abnormalities in the surface of the joint due to osteoarthritis.
- Hip joint replacement: Acetabulum and femur are replaced, the surgeon cleanses where the cartilage and bone have been lost, and new artificial joints are implanted in the healthy bone.
