Banking in Mexico
Most Banks are open 9 am – 4 pm, with a few Branches open till 6 pm.
You can withdraw money here through ATM machines and get reasonable rates using most Canadian or US bank cards. The machine will give you pesos and charge you a small fee for the transaction, usually your bank back home also charges a small fee.
Bank machine fees vary ($35-$55 MXN) but decline the currency conversion as the rates are higher.
Its a good idea to use ATM machines that are attached to a bank. If there is a problem with not getting the correct amount, you can at least go into the bank to correct it. Withdrawals are recommended during business hours as much as possible so you can get help if needed.
Exchange Rates
If you bring foreign money and want to exchange it there are different small currency exchange locations but they will be higher than the larger institutions. They offer similar service as the larger banks but less standing in line.
